New to hiking?
If this is your first hike with us, read our beginner's guide to hiking in Malaysia — it covers what to bring, how difficulty grading works, and what to expect on the day.
How to prepare
- Water, 1.5 to 2 litres. Bringing one small bottle is the most common beginner mistake.
- Shoes with real grip. Wet clay and tree roots cause more slips than steepness does.
- A head torch or small torch for pre-dawn starts, and a phone with an offline map downloaded.
- A quick-dry shirt rather than cotton, and a plastic or dry bag for your phone in case of rain.
